The safety of home decoration is often overlooked by people, and in fact, accidents caused by incorrect decoration methods are not uncommon. Generally speaking, the following points should be noted in decoration projects:
1、 Do not cover the entire floor of the building with marble. Marble is tens of times heavier than floor tiles and wooden floors, and if the floor is entirely paved with marble, it may make the floor slab unbearable. Especially for buildings above the second floor, the weight of ground decoration materials for buildings that have not been appraised by a building safety appraisal station shall not exceed 40 kilograms per square meter.
2、 It is not allowed to drill holes in load-bearing walls, dismantle walls connecting balconies and doors and windows, expand the size of existing doors and windows, or build new doors and windows at will. This practice will cause local cracks in the building and seriously affect its seismic resistance, thereby shortening the service life of the building.
3、 The decoration of balconies and bathrooms should try to use materials with low loads, as excessive overloading of balconies can cause them to overturn.
4、 Waterproofing of toilets and bathrooms is also a key aspect of decoration. The general practice is to block the floor drain and fill it with water at least 5 centimeters before renovating the bathroom. Conduct a water spray test, and if there is a leak, the waterproofing must be redone; If there is no leakage, be careful when laying the ground during construction, and do not damage the waterproof layer or make unauthorized changes to the water supply, drainage, and heating systems.
5、 When selecting wires, copper wire should be used instead of aluminum wire. Due to the poor conductivity of aluminum wires, they are prone to overheating, loose joints, and even fire hazards during use. In addition, during construction, attention should be paid not to directly dig trenches and bury wires on the walls. Regular conduit installation should be used to avoid electrical leakage and fire hazards.
6、 During construction, attention should be paid to avoiding chiseling, drilling, hanging ceilings, and installing artistic lighting fixtures on concrete circular hole slabs.
7、 Indoor decoration should ensure the safety requirements of gas pipelines and equipment. Do not dismantle or modify pipelines without authorization to avoid affecting the normal operation of the system. In addition, it should be noted that the horizontal clearance between power pipelines and equipment and gas pipelines should not be less than 10 centimeters, and the clearance between wires and gas pipes should not be less than 3 centimeters.
8、 Do not place the gas stove on a wooden cabinet during kitchen decoration, and do not wrap the gas main valve in the wooden cabinet. Once the cabinet catches fire, the gas main valve will be difficult to close in the fire, and the consequences will be unimaginable.
